Although not wealthy, I'm very lucky to have been born into a normal middle class family. I feel it is imporant for us as a society to donate our time, expertise and money to those less fortunate than us, and to organizations that can improve our society.

Some of the organizations I'm currently involved in or support:

Franciscan Outreach Association: The Franciscan Outreach Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving the poor and homeless in Chicago.  It operates the largest homeless shelter in the city that is open 365 days a year, and maintains a soup kitchen at another central location that feeds poor and homeless families every evening.  In addition, the Franciscan Outreach provides social services and counseling to help individuals realize their worth and become fully active members of society. NWCLUG: Northwest Chicagoland Linux UserGroup. We meet the first tuesday of (most) months at Harper College, in Palatine, Illinois. We promote Linux and related Open Source projects. NWCLUG can be found at  nwclug.harpercollege.edu

GreenMan Theatre Troupe:  An Elmhurst Illinois based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit theater troupe with a mission to provide opportinuties for personal growth in the theater arts and  to provide a source of cultural enrichment and pride for the community.

SteelBeam Theatre: Steel Beam Theatre is a 501(c)(3) not-forprofit organization dedicated to bringing high quality theatrical entertainment, training and arts awareness to the Fox Valley community at an affordable price.

Wheaton Drama, Inc: Wheaton Drama is a not-for-profit,  volunteer organiztion dedicated to improving the cultural life in the community by providing quality theater.
